With so many places to look at art on the Oregon coast, there is only one art museum. Located in downtown Coos Bay in the heart of Oregon’s South Coast, the museum is a leader in the exhibition of local art and art education. The museum’s collections reflect our region’s rich culture and explore the visual world through color and medium.
Exhibitions and education offerings change frequently throughout the year. Come by when you can to see a show or take a class before it is gone!

Roots and Visions: Celebrating Tribal Art
Roots and Visions: Celebrating Tribal Art brings together the art and culture of three sovereign Tribal Nations—the Coquille Indian Tribe, the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, and the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians.
As you enter the exhibit, you pass through an interpretation of a plank house—a traditional coastal structure built from cedar planks, often shared by extended families. Inside a plank house, a central hearth provides warmth, light, and a place to gather. The fire is not only physical, it is cultural, ceremonial, and communal.

Red Star Frog Woman, Hiiné DePoe

“Money” Necklace, Earla Kirk

Data Trees, Ashley Cordes
Each Tribe curated its own vision, sharing what art means to them today—rooted in tradition yet alive with innovation. These are not artifacts of a distant past, but expressions of enduring presence. The fire still burns. The stories still speak.
