Bring your short story to life with the help of this three days immersive “Illustrating Your Short Story” Workshop! This hands-on workshop is designed for aspiring illustrators with a story to tell. Offering you the tools and techniques to transform your narrative into a publishable book.

This class is geared for either digital or traditional illustrators. Embrace your personal style as you combine your art with stories, poetry, and more.  We recommend bringing a story with less then 5000 words… I know you might have that epic trilogy just waiting to be published, but let’s practice on short stories.

Over the course of three days, you’ll explore character design, scene setting, and visual storytelling. We will also discuss different options on getting your work into the world.  By the end of the class, you’ll have the skills and confidence to illustrate your own illustrated story, creating a powerful fusion of words and images. Supply List:

Bring a printed copy of your story,  something you can mark on.

Bring your favorite art tools.  If you’re a digital artist, please bring your own iPad or tablet to draw with.

We will have plenty of sketch paper to work out your storyboards and character sketches.

Students of this workshop will also be able to make use of the Open Studios times during and after the class to work on their illustrations.
